At Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, (LTBHS), we give second chances. Especially to the animals who would not likely be given one elsewhere. At LTBHS, we know that every life is valuable and important, which is why we do everything in our power to give these animals the second chance they deserve, and more importantly, the opportunity to find a loving, lifelong family of their own.
Last week, we were given that challenge. Three special dogs arrived at LTBHS who all needed a little extra care. There was sweet ZuZu, who had been recently hit by a car and as a result, sustained a fractured pelvis. Then there was Miley, a scared little girl who had been rescued from a house fire. Lastly, there was tiny, timid Shasta, who had been attacked by a much larger dog and now had puncture wounds up and down her neck and face.
We knew that these special girls would take a little more time to heal, both physically and emotionally, but that hasn’t deterred us from helping them. ZuZu will be going to a foster family soon so that she can heal properly. Little Shasta and adorable Miley have been spending time in the LTBHS office, getting more comfortable at the shelter. These two have made such strides in the last several days, they are now available for adoption! ZuZu will continue to recover and will hopefully be able to find her forever home in a month or so.
At Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, we strive to provide all the animals in our care with a warm bed, good food, veterinary care and individualized attention. We are glad that we have been able to provide that—and more—to these three deserving pups. We are so happy we’ve been able to be part of these girls’ journey to recovery and to help give them a second chance at a happy life and a brighter future.
