Our Shelter Buddies Reading Program is back by popular demand starting June 14, 2019!  This year, we will have TWO reading days available, Tuesdays and Fridays, with half hour slots from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.   Students can sign up for a time slot in advance with a parent or guardian by calling 231-622-6356.

We'll also be offering the Shelter Buddies Reading Challenge once again with NEW books, including:

-White Fur Flying by Patricia MacLachlan
-Hooper Finds a Family by Jane Paley
-Wish by Barbara O'Connor
-Socks by Beverly Cleary
-Whittington by Alan Armstrong

We'll have one copy of each book available at the shelter to read here or students are encouraged to check out one of the local libraries or book stores for these books!  We'll once again be awarding the Challenge participants with a certificate of completion, a Challenge t-shirt, pizza party and fun with shelter residents at the end of the summer.

We have many dogs at LTBHS looking for forever homes, but these five have been here the longest. This includes Ginger, who is going on two years as a LTBHS shelter resident. Each of these dogs has a quirk or two, but are all loving, sweet dogs that would make a great addition to the right family. Please consider giving one of these deserving animals a chance!
