About Us

Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is dedicated to providing animals the tender, loving care and attention they need to become adoptable companions.

LTBHS is a no-kill, non-profit organization that offers a temporary home to companion animals. Every day, we work toward achieving our mission of offering warm shelter, veterinary services, and personal attention to all the animals in our care, as well as proactive methods to control pet overpopulation. From our humble beginning in 1951, Little Traverse Bay Humane Society has grown to meet the needs of homeless dogs and cats. Since moving to our state-of-the-art facility at 1300 West Conway Rd in Harbor Springs, Michigan in 2001, LTBHS has sterilized more than 18,000 animals owned by community members and has placed more than 15,000 animals into loving homes. LTBHS is led by a staff and board of dedicated animal lovers willing to work extremely hard to improve the lives of our four-legged friends. Our top priority is to care for the animals who need us the most. We believe these animals warrant our best effort, and despite being “ownerless”, deserve a loving place to call home.
