Count12We’re happy to help the animals who need us most, especially when they need us most. This unfortunately often happens when a situation is at its most dire—when an animal is at risk in a kill shelter. These animals might have medical issues, be on the older side, have behavioral problems, or they may not have any of these at all—the shelter might just not have room for them. This is where LTBHS comes into play. We are fortunate here at LTBHS to be able to reach out to other shelters and rescues in need, helping to pull at-risk animals who might otherwise be euthanized.

Count is one example of this. When this seven year old Yorkie mix arrived at another shelter, he had kennel cough, a terrible dental infection and a severe flea allergy that left open wounds scatted down his back. Needless to say, he was in poor shape and probably in a lot of pain. This shelter did not have the room or resources to take care of this poor little boy and immediately began searching for rescue groups or other shelters to take him. LTBHS immediately signed on and in a few days, Count arrived at our shelter and began receiving treatment for his condition.

It hasn’t been easy—this dog has required a lot of medical work to help him get well, but every time we look into his big, brown eyes staring lovingly back at us, we know all the effort has been worth it.

Count is still healing, but will be available for adoption in the coming weeks. We know that this sweet boy will find an amazing, forever home-he deserves it. And we are so thankful that we have been part of his story.  To donate toward Count's care, click here.
