At Little Traverse Bay Humane Society, our goal is simple: to save the lives of homeless animals. And the demand is high. In 2011, we rescued 456 animals and adopted out 474 – 64 more adoptions than in 2010!

You may already be familiar with the following sobering statistic: For every one animal adopted, there are five more who need homes.

Autumn2For Autumn, a 12-week-old Great Pyrenees mix, and her two sisters, Dottie and Misty, life was uncertain. Rescued from a high-kill stray center, the process to prepare them for adoption began and these sweet puppies realized what a true second chance at life meant. As all three of the sisters have been adopted into loving, forever homes, we all have reason to celebrate as three more lives were saved!

As our organization evolves, we remain driven by our mission to offer warm shelter, veterinary services, and personal attention to all the animals in our care, as well as proactive methods to control pet overpopulation. We also remain committed to educating the public about the humane treatment of companion animals.

Because Little Traverse Bay Humane Society is 100 percent donor funded, donations are crucial to ensuring that every animal who comes through our doors receives exceptional care. We would like to encourage anyone, any age, who would like to volunteer, to consider raising money or collecting items on our wish list. You can truly make a difference in the lives of homeless animals by encouraging your friends, family, co-workers and neighbors to support Little Traverse Bay Humane Society. Every dollar you raise will help us continue to provide a safe, healthy shelter that is filled with love until the animals in our care, like Autumn, find their forever homes.
